Three things to know
• TCU and Oklahoma State meet in a matchup of the Big 12’s eighth and ninth seeds in the conference tournament’s opening round. The teams split their regular-season meetings, with the home team being the victor in each. The winner of Wednesday’s game faces top-seeded Kansas State in the quarterfinals at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
• OSU freshman center Yor Anei, who grew up in Overland Park 20 minutes south of Kansas City, earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors after blocking 14 shots in victories over Baylor and West Virginia, with an OSU freshman-record eight coming against the Mountaineers. He finished the season with a Big 12-best 2.5 blocks per game and needs eight more blocks to become OSU’s single-season record holder.
• ESPN projects TCU as one of the “Last Four In” for the NCAA Tournament, so every victory in Kansas City will do the Horned Frogs good. OSU, meanwhile, must win four games in four days and earn the Big 12’s automatic bid to make the 68-team field.
