Putnam City Schools celebrates Youth Art Month, names art winners
Putnam City Schools hosts an annual Youth Art Month celebration with student exhibitions and performances during March, the month designated by proclamation of the governor as Youth Art Month.
The celebration also includes naming the winners of a Youth Art Month art contest.
This year's winners included: High school winner Kennedy Yarbrough, a sophomore at Putnam City High School, for a serigraphy piece; middle school winner Simmei Ni, a seventh-grade student at Capps Middle School, for a graphite drawing; and at the elementary school level, Noemi Escobar, a second-grader at Northridge Elementary School, and Lyric Morgan, a first-grader at Western Oaks Elementary, tied as winners, each submitting a piece done in crayon wax with watercolor painted over it.
Students receive medals in honor of their work in their craft.
