Two students at Capitol Hill High School were arrested Thursday after a handgun was found on campus.

Just before 10:40 a.m., Oklahoma City police were called to the school after the handgun was found.

The handgun was found after a teacher at the school reported suspicious behavior involving the students. The school was put on lockdown while police worked to arrest the two students.

The lockdown was lifted after the two teens, whose names were not released, were in custody. Police said the students had not made any threats and that they were taken to a juvenile detention center.

“We are very grateful for the quick response of school staff and law enforcement, and OKCPS will continue to work with Oklahoma City Police as they continue their investigation. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” school district officials wrote in a news release.
