Cowboys hit five homers in win; Sooners fall at West Virginia
Cowboys rally in ninth to defeat TCU
Oklahoma State slugged five home runs, including two in the ninth inning, to lift the Cowboys to a 7-6 win over 19th-ranked TCU Saturday at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.
With the win, the Cowboys (17-8, 4-1) evened the series and set up a Sunday rubber game at 2 p.m.
OSU erased a ninth-inning deficit with solo homers from Colin Simpson and Alix Garcia, and Ben Leeper kept the Horned Frogs (17-8, 3-2) from scoring in the bottom of the inning to secure the win as he improved to 3-0 on the season.
Along with Simpson and Garcia, Carson McCusker, Trevor Boone and Andrew Navigato also homered as OSU collected 13 hits in the game. Garcia was 3-for-4 at the plate, while Navigato, Simpson, McCusker and Hueston Morrill each had two hits.
Mountaineers down Sooners to even series
West Virginia pounded No. 19 Oklahoma 12-4 on Saturday to even their Big 12 series in Morgantown, West Virginia.
After the Sooners tied the game 3-3 in the sixth inning, the Mountaineers (15-11, 1-4) regain the lead with a run in the seventh then erupted for eight runs in the eighth.
OU center fielder Brady Harlan went 3-for-3 with a walk and third baseman Brylie Ware went 2-for-4 with a home run for the Sooners (22-6, 4-1). Junior Nathan Wiles (5-1) struck out six, walked none and allowed four runs in 6.2 frames, in taking his first loss of the season.
OU and West Virginia play the rubber game of the series at noon Sunday.
