Today's featured event:

Hear Edmond's Tacit Jazz Fusion at VZD’s Restaurant & Bar, 4200 N Western Ave. The “Jazz on Western” show will kick off the 2019 Oklahoma City Jazz Festival.

As previously reported, the sixth annual Oklahoma City Jazz Festival will celebrate Oklahoma City's rich jazz history throughout the month of April at various locations across the city.

The festival will include a special performance by jazz and hip-hop violinist Lucine Fyelon April 13 at the Auditorium at Douglass to benefit Oklahoma Music Hall of Famer Byron Berline.

As previously reported, Berline's iconic Double Stop Fiddle Shop was destroyed in a fire Feb. 23 in historic downtown Guthrie. Losses from the fire included the renowned fiddler's personal memorabilia, a collection of priceless violins and his performance venue.

Based in Los Angeles, Fyelon is a genre-crossing violinist, opera singer, songwriter, producer and actor. She received worldwide acclaim after her video “Pound Cake” went viral with more than 21 million Facebook views. She recently finished a tour with Cirque du Soleil. She has performed and recorded with musical greats Madonna, Quincy Jones, Miley Cyrus, Lauryn Hill, Foo Fighters, Ricky Martin and Britney Spears.

Fyelon appeared on the television show “Glee” for five seasons and has made appearances on “Entourage” and “House of Lies.” She also had a lead role in the movie “The Black Hole.” She is a graduate of the Tchaikovsky School of Music in Armenia and received her master’s degree from UCLA with a double major in opera and violin performance. As an opera singer she sings in eight languages.

The OKC Jazz Fest's Byron Berline Benefit Concert also will feature Oklahoma singer Olivia Kay and The Jeremy Thomas Quartet & Friends. Tickets for the concert are available online at www.okcjazzfest.com. The OKC Jazz Fest will contribute a portion of tickets sales from the benefit concert to the Byron Berline Fund established at the Interbank in Guthrie, organizers said in a news release.
