The Oklahoma Bar Association’s Indian Law Section has awarded the G. William Rice Memorial Scholarship to two recipients intending to practice Indian law in Oklahoma.

Scholarship recipients are Rhylee Sanford, a second-year law student at the University of Tulsa, and Brian Candelaria, a third-year law student at Oklahoma City University School of Law.

Each will receive a $1,500 scholarship, which is intended to defray the costs of bar examination preparation courses.

Scholarship recipients must demonstrate a commitment to practicing Indian law in Oklahoma and merit. The Indian Law Section has named the scholarship in honor and memory of G. William Rice, a distinguished Indian law practitioner, law professor and co-director of the Native American Law Center at the University of Tulsa College of Law.

This year’s winners received the scholarships during the annual meeting of the Indian Law Section.
