Former Putnam West star Tyson Jolly heading to SMU
Former Putnam West star Tyson Jolly is heading to Southern Methodist.
After spending last season playing for Trinity Valley Community College, Jolly announced Tuesday on Twitter he was transferring to SMU. As a redshirt sophomore, the 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard started all 36 games he played for Trinity Valley, averaging 22.6 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4 assists per game while shooting 50.6 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from deep.
Jolly started his career at Baylor, where he played in 20 games as a redshirt freshman in 2017-18. He signed with California out of high school, but a transcript and class credit issue forced him to spend the 2016-17 season at Elev8 Prep Academy in Delray Beach, Florida.
He has two years of eligibility remaining at SMU.
Jolly was The Oklahoman’s Big All-City Player of the Year and a Super 5 selection in 2015 after averaging 20.2 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists to lead the Patriots to the Class 6A semifinals.
