Oklahoma correctional officer charged with rape
A former Oklahoma correctional officer was charged Thursday with second-degree rape after reportedly having sex with an inmate.
Cherokee Trottingwolf, 24, of Woodward, disclosed in a statement to a state Department of Corrections investigator that she had intimate contact with an Oklahoma City Transitional Center inmate, according to a court affidavit. She was employed at William S. Key Correctional Center in Fort Supply from Jan. 24, 2017, until her resignation Oct. 26.
The department opened an investigation into Trottingwolf after finding multiple phone conversations between her and the inmate in which they discussed the sexual encounter, according to a court affidavit.
Trottingwolf provided a statement to the investigator, saying she and the inmate had sex at a hotel in February 2018, according to a court affidavit. She said she then drove the inmate back to the transitional center to ensure he returned before curfew.
The investigator collected documentation showing Trottingwolf rented a room for two guests Feb. 12, 2018, at the Days Inn by Wyndham in south Oklahoma City, according to the affidavit.
