College Baseball Roundup: OSU evens series against West Virginia
Colin Simpson hit a grand slam with two outs in the eighth inning, and No. 24-ranked Oklahoma State defeated West Virginia 9-5 Saturday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.
OSU starter Joe Lienhard had a rough day on the mound, allowing eight hits and five runs over four innings. Four relievers held the Mountaineers (18-12, 3-5 Big 12) scoreless for the remainder of the game to help OSU even the series at one game apiece.
OSU's Logan Gragg needed just five pitches as he tossed a perfect eighth inning. The Connors State transfer earned his first career win, and improved to 1-2 on the season.
Trevor Boone led the Cowboys (19-10, 6-2) with three hits. Noah Sifrit drove in two runs and scored one run.
Horned Frogs edge Sooners
Jake Guenther hit a two-RBI single in the seventh inning, and No. 25-ranked TCU beat Oklahoma 4-2 to even the series Saturday at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman.
A 2-2 game entering the seventh, Guenther's single gave TCU (19-10, 4-4) its first lead of the game, which was delayed due to inclement weather.
Former OU baseball and football star Kyler Murray was in attendance, and threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
With the loss, OU fell to 23-9 overall and 5-3 in Big 12 play.
