OU basketball: Staff members still in mix for other jobs

Lon Kruger will return as Oklahoma's head coach next season, but it's not a certainty that the same staff will join him.

Jobs around the country are still being filled.

"At this point, all of them are talking with others," Kruger said of his assistants. "Which is absolutely great. That's a part of the business. There are going to be a lot of changes going forward in the next few days and weeks across the country. You always want your guys to get opportunities."

Assistant coach Carlin Hartman interviewed for the Buffalo job. Ultimately, Buffalo promoted assistant coach Jim Whitesell to replace Nate Oats. Hartman has spent the last three seasons on Kruger's staff.

Associate head coach Chris Crutchfield was part of Kruger's inaugural OU staff, having worked as a Sooner assistant since 2011.

Kevin Kruger has served on his dad's staff for the last three seasons after two years as an assistant at Northern Arizona.

Former OU assistants Lew Hill and Steve Henson just completed their third seasons as head coaches at UT-Rio Grande Valley and Texas-San Antonio.
