OU football: Jalen Hurts jokes that Nick Saban would chew him out for celebration

NORMAN — Jalen Hurts did something in OU's Friday night spring game that wouldn't have flown at Alabama.

After a one-yard touchdown run on his first series of the second half, Hurts gathered his teammates and posed for an impromptu team photo. It was the kind of celebration the Sooners won't get away with come September.

Hurts wore a blue No. 1 jersey, and a big grin.

"I just thought about it," Hurts said after the game. "Let’s go take a picture after we score. We took one, and I said, 'Yeah, I ain’t doing that at the other place – at Alabama.'

"My old coach, coach (Nick) Saban, I probably would have gotten a chewing for that one."

The response was more tongue-in-cheek rather than taking a shot at his former school.

Hurts completed 11 of 14 passes for 174 yards in his Sooner debut. He rushed five times for 12 yards.
