Though his win totals have been low, Mike Boynton’s reputation has been on a constant incline.

The Oklahoma State men’s basketball coach could be a person of interest as St. John’s University looks for its next leader, according to a New York Post report on Wednesday evening.

New York Post reporter Zach Braziller said on Twitter that he’s been told St. John’s has spoken to Boynton’s agent.

Boynton is 33-35 in two seasons as OSU’s head coach, though the job he’s done in a difficult situation has been better than the win total represents. He’s overseen a significant overhaul of the program to build a team that was respected for its toughness and effort in the face of adversity.

Boynton has also proven himself as a strong recruiter, with a talented class set to arrive next fall.

Boynton is a native of Brooklyn, New York, where he attended Bishop Loughlin High School. St. John’s is located in Queens.
