AWC BYLINERS LUNCHEON
What/where: The 2019 Byliner Awards Luncheon was at Gaillardia Country Club and seven honorees were presented. The Association for Women in Communications recognized the women who have made a significant contribution or impact in the community.
Who: Winners introduced were Linda Haneborg, Lifetime Achievement; Jonna Kirschner, Law & Civic Involvement; Natalie Shirley, Business Development; Christina Rehkop, Philanthropy; Susan Harkness, Communications; Molly Wehrenberg, Community Advocacy, and Rosaline Nsikak, Nonprofit.
How: Co-chairmen of the event were Billie Rodely and LToya Knighten. Jody Britt is president of the AWCOKC Chapter.
CHI OMEGA CENTENNIAL 2019
Occasion: Chi Omega members of Epsilon Alpha chapter at the University of Oklahoma celebrated their 100th anniversary in Norman. Saturday lunch was at the Embassy Suites and the dinner/dance was held that night at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in the east side suites. Decade parties were held in Norman and Oklahoma City on Friday night.
Take a bow: Jeary Seikel and Chris Purcell were centennial co-chairmen. Missy Imel Henderson and Lori Neal Bowman were luncheon co-chairmen, and Heather Mendoza Coyle and Meredith Mustain Mayernik were dinner co-chairmen.
At lunch: Cleta Deatherage Mitchell was luncheon emcee. Chi Omega’s National Archivist Lyn Harris who gave a presentation about Chi Omega and Epsilon Alpha. Karrie Eselin Thompson was given the Centennial Award for 39 years of service as chapter advisor and on the House Corporation. Toasts and singing ended the luncheon.

Guests: Former Governing Council members and many from the National Headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee, attended. Beth Stathos, Chi Omega’s national attorney, took photos. Three house mothers came, including Martha Lewis, current house mother, along with retired moms, Donna Hays and Eve Cook. Peggy Hunter, housekeeper for 30 years, was also there.
Décor: Flowers using Chi Omega colors of red and yellow were centerpieces. A cardboard Choo Choo from former skits and Greek letters were used in decorations.
At dinner: Abigail Ogle was emcee. About 1,100 people attended the dinner dance. A Chi Omega graphic was displayed on the Jumbotron. The image depicted an early day image at the chapter house with a photo from this year’s bid day. Announcement was made of wish grant for Make-A-Wish, Chi Omega’s national philanthropy.
Prime location: Guests went to an open house at the newly-remodeled sorority house at 820 Chautauqua.
PI PHI LUNCHEON
Event: Pi Beta Phi Alumnae met for a luncheon in the Vintage Room of the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. They honored Diamond Arrow members (75 years of membership) and Golden Arrow members (50 years members). Co-hostesses were Danielle Lidwell, Millonn Lilly, Stacey McDaniel and Elizabeth Wilson. Amy Pearson is president of the alumnae club.
Flowers/favors: Wine-colored carnations and blue hydrangeas, white orchids and white daisies decorated the tables. Party favors were tin hearts filled with candy with monogrammed Greek letters for Pi Beta Phi.
Event: Judy and Tom Love were hosts for The Societies of Oklahoma City University Awards of Excellence Honoree Party. About 85 people attended. The award winners received special lapel pins.
Taking the stage: Receiving their pins were Jane Jayroe Gamble, Servant Leader Award; Becky Switzer Oklahoma City University Distinguished Philanthropist Award; Kathy Williams, Dulaney-Brown Library Society Award; Sue Ann Arnall, Kirkpatrick-Petree Music and Performing Arts Society Award, and Stacy McDaniel, Norick-Hulsey Gallery Society Award. They will be introduced at a special luncheon April 25 at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Aimee Harlow and Ann-Clore Duncan are co-chairmen of the event.
Occasion: Joy Reed Belt was hostess for the opening reception at JRB Art at the Elms honoring featured artist Kathleen Morris, of New Mexico.
Bueno menu: Chef Ryan Parrot created a southwestern buffet and tables were decorated with ceramic rabbits and wizards created by Diana Smith.
