The Longest Married Couple Project sponsored by Worldwide Marriage Encounter, a faith-based marriage enrichment program in America.

The project, which is celebrating its ninth year, honors one national winner, along with winners from each of the 50 states and U.S. territories. As in previous years, some couples whose marriages are 50 years or less are being nominated and, in some cases, could be their state winners, while other nominations include couples who have been married much longer. Also, as in previous years, well-known couples with long marriages also are being nominated.

The nomination process ends on May 14, with winners being recognized throughout the month of June. Tony and Sue Morris and the Rev. Tom Ogg, the United States Ecclesial Team for Worldwide Marriage Encounter, will present the Longest Married Couple in the United States with special gifts during the June event, which traditionally takes place in the winning couples’ community. During the same time frame, state winners will receive a special certificate of achievement and recognition from Worldwide Marriage Encounter representatives in their states.

Nominations, which are open to all husband and wife couples regardless of faith expression, may be submitted by email, regular mail or by phone. Information needed for a nomination includes the couple's name, wedding date and what city and state they reside in, while the nominator needs to include his or her own name plus a phone number or email address so they can be contacted if their nominee is a national or state winner.

The nomination may be submitted in one of the following ways: www.wwme.org or email bkberland@gmail.com; regular mail to Bryan & Karen Berland 530 S Academy, Guthrie, OK 73044; and by phone at 850-4274. Nominations must be received by midnight May 14.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers married couples the opportunity to spend time together away from the busyness of the world to focus on each other. It offers tools for building and maintaining a strong, Christian marriage.
