OKC's Scissortail Park nears completion
MAPS 3 managers led a tour Thursday of the upper Scissortail Park in downtown Oklahoma City.
Construction is nearly done in the 36-acre upper park, with trees going in and grass taking root in the lawn facing the stage.
The upper park features a lake and fountain, gardens, playgrounds, cafe on the Oklahoma City Boulevard, and grand promenade.
Mayor David Holt made the first gift to the Scissortail Park Foundation Endowment Fund last year, and a trellis garden in the upper park will be called the Mary Ann and Stroud Holt Garden after his parents.
Planning has begun for a grand opening celebration in late summer or early fall.
The lower section of the $139 million park, below the Skydance bridge to the Oklahoma River, is to open in 2021.
