EDMOND — The University of Central Oklahoma will observe a "First Amendment Day" on Thursday as it kicks off the 50th year of the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame.

A "First Amendment Day" conference will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in UCO's Mass Communication building and the Nigh University Center with speakers focusing on freedom of the press and its impact on the country. The public is invited to attend.

"This conference will define what the First Amendment means to students on college campuses," said Erin Barnett, conference co-director. "There are going to be many informative panels and speakers who are champions for it and defend it to the best of their ability."
