COMMONWEALTH URBAN FARMS
Classes are from 11 a.m. to noon at CommonWealth Urban Farms, 3310 N Olie. Tuition is $10 per person or $15 per couple, unless otherwise noted. Free admission for Saturday volunteers. Pay onsite at the beginning of the class.
Plant a Bouquet Garden: Saturday. Learn about the easiest flowers to grow in central Oklahoma plus how to plan and prepare a garden bed. Participants may start seedlings of their own with seeds and supplies provided by CommonWealth. Flower seedlings will be available for sale.
Video series — “How to Grow a Vegetable Garden Even if You’ve Never Planted a Seed in Your Life”: Follow the gardeners at CommonWealth each week from March through October to learn the fundamentals of planting, growing and harvesting. MYRIAD BOTANICAL GARDENS

Beginning Gardener: 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Garden Classroom. Learn bedrock essentials for choosing the right location, testing and sustaining soil health, and selecting the most suitable vegetable and flower varieties. Cost is $14 for members, $19 for nonmembers. Register by Tuesday.
Soil: The Key to a Healthy Garden: 1 to 3 p.m. May 4, the Garden Classroom. Learn the basics of soil structure, soil testing, how to amend problem soil and the essential ingredients and steps in preparing, maintaining, and utilizing organic compost. Cost is $9 for members, $14 for nonmembers. Register by Tuesday.
Organic Gardening: 10 a.m. to noon May 18, the Garden Classroom. Topics will include building organic soil, companion planting, protecting beneficial insects, securing best heirloom seeds, and unconventional planting methods. Registrants will receive free seeds to take home. Cost is $14 for members, $19 for nonmembers. Register by May 14.
