Today's featured event:

Hear critically acclaimed singer, songwriter and violinist Amanda Shires at 8 tonight at the Tower Theatre, 425 NW 23.

As previously reported, “It’s all rock & roll – no golf!” is how Shires describes her fifth album, "To The Sunset," released in August. She’s borrowed a lyric from the effervescent track “Break Out the Champagne,” one of the 10 songs that comprise her powerful new recording.

The Texas-born road warrior, new mom and recently minted master of fine arts in creative writing has mined a range of musical influences to reveal an Amanda Shires many didn’t know existed: Distorted electric guitars, effects pedals, swirling keys and synths and rocking rhythms that suit Shires’ visceral songcraft and lilting soprano.

Award-winning Oklahoma singer-songwriter Carter Sampson will open the show.

Doors open at 7 tonight. For tickets and information, go to www.towertheatreokc.com
