Oklahoma country music superstar Blake Shelton appears on today's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," where he received a scare from "Modern Family" actress Julie Bowen and an engagement countdown clock from the show's host.

DeGeneres told the Ada native, who has been dating pop superstar Gwen Stefani since 2015, that the clock was similar to one she gifted to Jennifer Lopez earlier this year, and about a week after receiving it, Alex Rodriguez proposed to Lopez.

“Jennifer Lopez was here, and I wanted to help her out with A-Rod because she wanted to marry him, obviously like Gwen wants to marry you,” DeGeneres told Shelton. “I gave her a clock that she could give to him, (to remind him) the clock is ticking, time is passing. I gave her the clock, and literally a week later he proposed to her.”

In typical sly fashion, Shelton accepted the clock - which was adorned with a photo of him and Stefani kissing - by asking DeGeneres, “So you’re saying, there’s a chance she’s gonna ask me to marry her with this clock? See how I turned that around?"

“I’ll call her tonight,” DeGeneres replied. “I’ll tell her she’s waiting for you.”

Shelton and Stefani met while working together on "The Voice," and the Tishomingo resident updated DeGeneres on how his team is doing on the current season of the hit NBC singing contest.

The Oklahoman appeared on DeGeneres' show to talk about his latest animated film project "UglyDolls," opening Friday in theaters, and in honor of the new movie, he and DeGeneres played a round of the new game "Dodge Dolls" on her show:

Shelton and Stefani recently walked the red carpet at the film's premiere with her sons, her brother and her brother's family:
