Shane Richards’ 6-foot-8, 336-pound frame couldn’t be passed up.

With the No. 1 overall pick in the Canadian Football League Draft, the Toronto Argonauts selected the former Oklahoma State offensive lineman Thursday night, which the team later announced via Twitter:

Richards, a native of Calgary, Alberta, in western Canada, spent three seasons at Oklahoma State. He played as a backup in 2016 and redshirted in 2017.

This past season, he was a part-time starter, spending time at right guard and right tackle, before an injury ended his year. Richards also was a second-team academic All-Big 12 selection.
