The Parade of Homes Spring Festival continues with more than 100 new houses open free to the public from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Traffic was heavy last weekend for the opening of the parade, said Rusty Appleton, executive director of Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association, which organizes it.

"Since we've started the spring parade we've seen traffic increase year over year," he said.

He said shoppers, as usual, "are looking for the latest and greatest in technology," but "they also like to see the little things that make home life easier or unique. A good example is a dog wash in the garage or laundry room."

Not everything has gone digital, Appleton said, although photos and details about the homes are online at www.paradeofhomesok.com. Most of the homes in the parade are for sale and move-in ready.

"If you're looking to purchase a new home or just get new ideas, it's always better to be there in person. You can interact with the builder, ask questions, and get a better feel for the materials used," he said.

Parade books are available at OnCue locations.
