Jensen Elliott tossed seven scoreless innings, Alix Garcia hit an RBI single in the seventh and the No. 21-ranked Oklahoma State baseball team beat No. 2 Oregon State 1-0 in the series opener Friday night in Corvallis, Oregon.

Elliott was dominant against the defending national champions, allowing just two hits. Elliott (6-3) struck out four batters and walked two.

Peyton Battenfield was equally impressive. The Cowboy reliever stuck out three and retired all six batters he faced.

The Cowboys (26-16) struggled against Oregon State starter Brandon Eisert (8-2), who gave up nine hits and one run over eight innings.

But Garcia's clutch hit that scored Andrew Navigato was the only run support Oklahoma State needed to notch the upset win over the Beavers (31-12-1).

Oklahoma State will look to claim the series in game two, which begins at 8:05 p.m. Saturday.
