College Baseball Roundup: Oklahoma State sweeps Oregon State
Cade Cabbiness drove in two runs on a single in the eighth inning, and No. 21-ranked Oklahoma State beat No. 2 Oregon State 8-7 to complete the series sweep Sunday in Corvallis, Oregon.
Oregon State (31-14-1), the defending national champion, was swept in a three-game series on its home field for the first time since 2010.
Trevor Boone went 3 for 4 with four RBIs for the Cowboys (28-16). Andrew Navigato, who also had three hits, finished with two RBIs.
A 6-6 tie entering the eighth, Cabbiness' single proved to be the difference.
Jake Lyons picked up the win after working 3 2/3 innings in relief. Lyons (3-2) allowed four hits and three runs.
Texas Tech beats OU to sweep series
Brian Klein, Josh Jung and Cody Masters each drove in two runs, leading No. 10-ranked Texas Tech to an 8-4 win over Oklahoma in the series finale Sunday in Norman.
With the loss, OU (30-18, 8-10 Big 12) was swept in a three-game series for the first time this season. The Sooners hadn't been swept at home since 2015 against TCU.
OU starter Ben Abram (6-2) struggled on the mound. The freshman right-hander allowed seven hits and four runs in three innings of work.
Right-hander Bryce Bonnin had a solid outing for Texas Tech (33-14, 14-7). Bonnin struck out three and allowed just two hits in six scoreless innings.
