Toby Keith announces plans for his Sweet 16 Golf Classic Oklahoma fundraiser for the OK Kids Korral
NORMAN - Oklahoma singer, songwriter and entertainer Toby Keith's annual hometown fundraising fiesta returns this month with more stars, more fun, more one-of-kind auction items and, ultimately, more support for critically ill children and their families.
The Toby Keith and Friends Sweet 16 Golf Classic returns to Norman's Riverwind Casino and Belmar Golf Club May 31-June 1.
The "Denim & Diamonds"-themed event kicks off Friday, May 31 at Riverwind with dinner, live and silent auctions and the music of Eddy Raven, among others. The next morning, it's off to Belmar for the double shotgun start of the event's celebrity golf tournament.
A record-setting 53 teams will compete for prizes this year, according to a news release.
If the past 15 years are any indication, the Golf Classic's live and silent auctions will draw some remarkable bids. Among the items available are a day on set with Billy Bob Thornton, a visit to "The Voice" set, a Jimmy Buffett concert and meet and greet, and golf experiences at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Lexus Champions for Charity National Championship.
Sports items available include a basketball signed by Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson; an Earl Campbell autographed helmet; a Troy Aikman autographed jersey; an autographed item from Tiger Woods at the Masters; a signed Bo Jackson Raiders helmet; and a basketball autographed by Julius "Dr. J." Erving.
Music and entertainment offerings include a Lady Gaga autographed movie photo, an "Abbey Road "album signed by Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, a Garth Brooks signed drum head, a guitar autographed by Jason Aldean and a "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie photo signed by Oscar winner Rami Malek. Tickets are also available for the musical "Hamilton" in Oklahoma City as well as for concerts starring Big & Rich, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley and George Lopez.
Trips for auction include a weekend getaway to Carlton Landing; a stay in Zihuatanejo, Mexico; an all-inclusive fishing trip in Rockport, Texas; and a Hall's Bayou (Texas) wetlands duck hunt. Additional auction items include art by Oklahoma's own Tim Kenney, a custom furniture piece from Lorec Ranch, and patio furniture from J.C. Swanson.
The auction is available online, with public bidding beginning May 27 at https://givergy.us/toby19.
All the festivities benefit the Toby Keith Foundation's OK Kids Korral, a no-cost home for children battling cancer, and their families.
Over the previous 15 years, the Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic has raised $12.4 million to fund construction and operation of the OK Kids Korral.
