Oklahoma softball swept all five Big 12 end-of-season awards on Wednesday, becoming the first team to do so in the history of the conference.

Sydney Romero was named Player of the Year, Giselle Juarez won Pitcher of the Year, Caleigh Clifton was named Defensive Player of the Year, Grace Green won Freshman of the Year and Patty Gasso was awarded Coach of the Year for the 12th time.

Romero, Juarez, Clifton and Green were named to the All-Big 12 first team alongside teammates Jocelyn Alo and Falepolima Aviu. OU's six first-team selections matched the 2000 team for the program record.

Senior first baseman Shay Knighten and junior pitcher Shannon Saile were named to the second team.

Shortstop Grace Lyons joined Green on the All-Freshman team.

The top-ranked Sooners will open Big 12 Tournament play at 2 p.m. Friday against Texas Tech at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium.

6 OSU softball players recognized on All-Big 12 teams

Oklahoma State put six players on the All-Big 12 softball teams.

Senior pitcher/designated player Samantha Show and leadoff-hitting outfielder Rylee Bayless, both seniors, were among the 12 first-team selections.

Senior second baseman Madi Sue Montgomery and sophomore utility player Michaela Richbourgh were second-team choices.

The All-Freshman team included center fielder Chyenne Factor and shortstop Kiley Naomi.

The Cowgirls begin play at the Big 12 Conference tournament at 11 a.m. against Texas and 5 p.m. against Iowa State in Friday’s pool-play round.

OU's Kaitlin Milligan ties for 1st at Norman Regional

Oklahoma golfer Kaitlin Milligan tied for first place in the individual standings at the Norman Regional on Wednesday, clinching a spot in the NCAA Championship.

The Norman North alum entered the final round five strokes behind the leader before shooting a 4-under 68 to finish first alongside Arizona State's Olivia Mehaffey. The pair had an overall score of 8-under 208.

The Sooners took eighth place in the tournament, which was held at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. OU needed to place sixth or better to advance to the NCAA Championship.

Texas finished first with a three-round total of 855 (-9), nine strokes clear of Florida and Wake Forest.

OSU sets school record in APR with seven perfect scores

Seven Oklahoma State teams recorded a perfect single-year score of 1,000 on the NCAA's Academic Progress Rate unveiled Wednesday, topping its previous record of six set a year ago.

The Cowboys posted perfect scores in men's cross country, men's golf, men's tennis, women's cross country, women's golf, softball and women's track and field.

The football program has a multiyear score of 982, which ranks second in the Big 12 and is tied for 14th among Power 5 programs.

Seminole State to host regional softball tourney

Seminole State's softball team will host Thursday's NJCAA Region II tournament as the No. 1 team in the nation.

Seminole State (47-2) rose to No. 1 from second in the final regular-season NJCAA Division-I rankings after running its winning streak to 42 games.
