Man arrested after 4-year-old shot in SE OKC
A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the Wednesday night shooting of a 4-year-old girl in southeast Oklahoma City, police said.
About 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a reported shooting in the 200 block of SE 22 where a person said a “baby had been shot,” according to a police report.
Officers at the scene found the girl, whose name was not released, being treated by paramedics in the front yard of a home. A witness told investigators that she was in a car with two people and was going to ride with them to a grocery store to “help them out” when an argument broke out.
The woman left the car, which then went north and then turned back around and stopped in front of the woman’s van. The girl was inside the van playing. The woman said one of the two people in the car pulled out a handgun and began firing at the van, according to the report.
An officer at the scene said it was unknown if the shooter was targeting the van or the woman.
Another woman was inside a home when she heard the gunshots and ran outside and brought the bleeding girl inside the home. The girl’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said.
Police were later able to locate Daniel Mack just before noon Thursday and arrested him in connection with the shooting, officials said.
Mack is currently being held at the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.
