Livestock report from the Oklahoma City Stockyards: Oklahoma Weekly Cattle Auction Summary Livestock Weighted Average Report for the week of May 5 through Thursday.

Receipts: 22,576; Last Week: 31,098; Last Year: 34,274

Compared to last week: Combined weighted average for Seven auctions: Ada, Apache, McAlester, OKC, OKC West, Tulsa, and Woodward. Feeders steers sold steady to $5 lower. Feeder heifers steady to $4 lower. Steer calves steady to $2 lower and heifer calves steady. Demand moderate. CME cattle futures continued to close in the red throughout this week. Rain has continued across the trading region dampening cattle movement and chances of rain are still in the forecast for parts of the state heading into next week. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to $3 lower. Packer demand moderate. Supply included 41 percent going to packers; 59 percent replacement cattle and pairs. Supply included: 88% Feeder Cattle (52% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 45% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 6% Slaughter Cattle (84% Cows, 16% Bulls); 6% Replacement Cattle (36% Bred Cows, 2% Bred Heifers, 61% Cow-Calf Pairs, 0% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 65%.

SLAUGHTER CATTLE

Slaughter cattle trades on a live basis traded $2-$3 lower in Kansas and Texas. In Nebraska live trades were $3-$4 lower and dressed sales $4-$11 lower. About all of trades were made Tuesday and Wednesday. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 128,238 head. Last week's total head count was 150,204.

Dressed Basis: Steers and Heifers: $189-196.

South Plains Direct Markets: Kansas and Texas

Live Basis: Steers and Heifers: $120.

CATTLE FUTURES

Live Cattle: June $112.45; Aug. $108.90; Oct. $109.03; Dec. $113.08.

Feeder Cattle: May $137.63; Aug. $146.83; Sept. $147.78; Oct. $148.75.

CATTLE SLAUGHTER

Federally Inspected Cattle: 664,000 head up 1.4 percent from a year ago. Western Cornbelt Direct Lean Hog Base Price: Weighted average price of packers bids on a carcass basis delivered to packing plants as of Friday was $80.73.

HOG FUTURES

Dressed Basis: (74% yield): May $83.75; June $89.68; July $90.75; Aug. $92.65.

HOG SLAUGHTER

Federally Inspected Hogs: 2.341 million head up 1.5 percent from a year ago.

SHEEP SLAUGHTER

Federally Inspected Sheep: 37,000 head down 5.1 percent from a year ago.

BEEF

Estimated Composite Boxed Beef Cutout Values: Friday Box beef cut-out values: down $6.04 from last Friday. Choice 600-900 lbs. $221.11; Select 600-900 lbs. $207.46.

MEAT PRODUCTION

Beef: 531.8 million lbs. up 1.9 percent from a year ago.

Pork: 502.5 million lbs. up 2.0 percent from a year ago.

Lamb: 2.4 million lbs. down 11.1 percent from a year ago.

Cattle Carcass Weights - National Average: This week estimate: 803 lbs.; Last week estimate 804 lbs.; Last year's actual 799 lbs.
