Big 12 softball tournament canceled due to rain

A Big 12 softball tournament champion won't be crowned in 2019.

Saturday's games, including the scheduled 4 p.m. championship, have been canceled due to rain.

The conference made the announcement Saturday morning, citing poor field conditions at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex.

"Since all pool play games were not finished, the Big 12's automatic bid to the NCAA softball championship will go to the regular-season champions, Oklahoma," the Big 12 shared on Twitter.

Rain likely cost fans in Oklahoma City the chance to watch another Bedlam bout. No. 1 seed OU was leading Kansas 5-0 in the fourth inning Friday night before rain postponed the game to Saturday.

Had the Sooners won, a Big 12 championship matchup against the Cowgirls would've been on deck Saturday.

Oklahoma State went 2-0 Friday to win Pool B. Oklahoma won its first game against Texas Tech before the delay against Kansas.

The NCAA Softball Tournament bracket will be revealed at 8 p.m. Sunday on ESPN2.
