OU basketball: Assistant Chris Crutchfield takes job at Arkansas
Longtime Oklahoma assistant coach Chris Crutchfield was announced Friday as the new associate head coach at Arkansas.
Crutchfield was on Lon Kruger's original OU staff, having spent the last eight seasons in Norman. Now he'll join first-year Arkansas coach Eric Musselman in Fayetteville. Musselman replaced former Arkansas coach Mike Anderson.
"We’re incredibly grateful for Coach Crutchfield and his family during his eight seasons on our staff," Kruger said in a statement. "He was a vital part of our team as both a coach and mentor of young men. Eric Musselman was on our staff in Atlanta and has remained close with our family and staff. Crutch has a great opportunity to help the Arkansas program get off the ground under Coach Musselman and we’re excited for the next step in his coaching journey."
Crutchfield served as Oklahoma's lead recruiter for Buddy Hield and Trae Young.
The Hopkinsville, Kentucky native spent time at Oral Roberts and TCU before joining Oklahoma's staff.
Crutchfield is the second OU assistant to leave this offseason. Kevin Kruger took an assistant coaching job at UNLV. He was replaced by former Nebraska assistant Jim Molinari.
