Concerns over the possibility of severe weather have prompted some local schools districts, including Oklahoma City Public Schools, to cancel Monday's classes.

Deer Creek, Edmond, Midwest City-Del City, Moore, Mustang, Norman, and Yukon schools also will be closed on Monday.

The National Weather Service said "significant and widespread severe weather" is expected Monday afternoon into Monday night across most of Oklahoma and northern Texas. Very large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are expected with the strongest thunderstorms.

A flash flood watch has been issued for central Oklahoma from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, the weather service reported.
