Metro area schools canceled Monday due to weather risks


Due to the threat of severe weather Monday, school districts in Deer Creek, Edmond, Mid-Del, Moore, Mustang, Norman, Oklahoma City, and Yukon have canceled classes, the districts announced.

There is a chance for high winds 60 mph or higher and baseball-size hail Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service reported.

A moderate risk exists for severe weather Monday through Tuesday in central Oklahoma.

Heavy rain is also possible in the storms. Storms are expected to start Monday morning in western Oklahoma before moving into central Oklahoma.

A flash flood watch has been issued for central Oklahoma from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, the weather service reported.
