The Oklahoma City Zoo, 2101 NE 50, is closing early today due to the severe weather forecast.

Staff for the perennial family-favorite attraction announced on social media that it is closing at noon today. The animals have been secured in their indoor habitats, according to the zoo's posts.

Much of the state is under various weather watches due to conditions considered favorable for severe weather, and many state schools and nonprofit organizations have closed and canceled activities as a precaution. To follow The Oklahoman's coverage of today's weather, click here
