Livestock report from the Oklahoma City Stockyards:

Receipts: 8,000; Last Monday: 5,192; Year ago: 9,423

Compared to last week: Feeder steers trading steady. Feeder heifers $1-$3 lower. Steer calves 500-550 lbs. $2 lower, other weights not tested. Heifer calves lightly tested with a lower undertone noted. Quality plain to attractive. Trade active. Huge fed kills by the packers lately showing feedlots becoming more current. Unseasonably cool, wet weather slowing beef demand and grilling season. The abundance of fed beef in May is largest in years and corn planting is closing on records for the least amount of acres planted for this time in May. Note: these trends and Monday receipts are through 3 p.m. and are subject to change.
