Oklahoma Scene: USAO, OCU win at NAIA Softball World Series
The USAO softball team defeated Georgia Gwinnett 4-1, and Oklahoma City University beat Valley City State (South Dakota) 4-0 in the NAIA Softball World Series on Friday in Springfield, Missouri.
USAO and OCU both had complete-game outings from their starting pitchers.
USAO's Emily Cerny struck out four batters and allowed six hits.
OCU's Jaden Shores tossed a one-hitter. The former Blanchard standout had perfect game through 5 1/3 innings.
Seminole State softball win streak snapped
The Angelina College (Texas) softball team snapped Seminole State's 48-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory Friday in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA World Series in St. George, Utah.
Seminole State bounced back in the double-elimination tournament, defeating Temple College (Texas) 6-2 before facing the College of Central Florida in the nightcap.
OCU men's golf takes 3rd at NAIA Championships
Oklahoma City University finished in third place at the NAIA Men's Golf Championships on Friday in Mesa, Arizona.
Texas Wesleyan won the title by nine strokes over Coastal Georgia. OCU was 16 shots behind Texas Wesleyan.
OCU's Ty Stites tied for sixth in the individual standings. The sophomore finished three strokes behind the leader.
