OSU baseball: TCU erases Cowboy rally with late-inning surge

Oklahoma State’s seventh-inning rally was magical. In the eighth inning, TCU made it disappear.

When the show was finally over, the third-seeded Cowboys dropped a 13-6 decision to sixth-seeded TCU Saturday evening at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, forcing the if-necessary game at 9 a.m. Sunday to settle who will face West Virginia in the Big 12 Tournament championship game.

The Cowboys had trailed 6-0 after the top of the fourth inning and had cut it to 6-2 when right fielder Cade Cabbiness hit a game-tying grand slam in the bottom of the seventh.

But the momentum had little life. TCU’s offense surged back, hitting OSU relief pitcher Ben Leeper hard to start a five-run eighth, before adding two more in the ninth.
